Visiting Philippines? Try this dessert

My #1 Philippine dessert is not traditionally filipino. The day I arrived was grey and wet, yet humid. The traffic was a cluttered mess going from the airport. But the start of an authentic Asian experience. It was in September. I am however not reminiscing about my stay, but the smell of caramalized sugar when I entered the kitchen that following morning. The Philippines have its traditional dessert like Halo-Halo and Buku salad that is both delectable, must try frozen desserts. But it is neither of the two that made an impression on me during my visit to the Philippines. I originally began writing this post to share a great delicacy of my first visit to the Philippines.  Being passed off as a filipino dessert, I soon realised that this is not a filipino dessert but, the filipino version rather. It is still the filipino version I prefer, since I had travelled to Mexico, France and South Africa. My finding is that the filipino version referred to as Leche Flan is tastier,...

The 5 power tools for success

The universe will force you into the direction of what you asked for so make sure you are well equipped for that journey, cause if not. There will be many lessons and skills to learn, depending on how greedy you have been in your desires

Depending on who reads this, my following statement can go both ways.  Some of you might relate, while others would think. Ridiculous.

It is with self awareness that I have come to know that even the littlest of desires have become reality in some form, which is why we need to be very specific of the things we want. It is why I have faith and it is why I ask, or should I say pray, for what I want in a different way.

This is not some easy practice, I can tell you. I still have my days. But- without discipline, acquiring those things I believe is not possible with asking alone. Having discipline is so much easier with a certain amount of passion.

In the past I have prayed (or asked the universe) for things. I got those things, some in the strangest of ways much later.

I did get the car I asked for some time ago, but as a courtesy car from the insurance company, when my car was in for a repair after an accident. The car that was in the accident was also a desire of mine, but long before I actually managed to have it. That car, I turned out to be grateful that I was never able to purchase it. My point is that we should be very specific about our wants and needs.

I no longer ask the universe for material things, but the tools to acquire them.

Like,

1)      Discipline

I have a great deal of passion for the things my heart desire. I know what is needed to acquire those things, but it doesn’t matter how much passion we possess or even ambition, the most ambitious goals is nothing without discipline. And I understand that no great things would come to those without discipline. How can we expect for great things if we do not exert the effort that those great things require. So I ask for guidance.

2)      Persistence

I know that I have a great deal of persistence to require those things, but what I have learned is that we could never have enough persistence. Persistence is that thing that tells us to go just a little bit longer when we feel like there is no progress. That things that tells us to try again when our previous attempt failed. Without persistence, discipline is useless.

3)      Faith

I think we pray and ask for these things because we have faith. We know that we are meant for something different, something greater. It is because of this faith that we believe in these goals. Faith is the only thing that can make ordinary people believe that they are capable of extraordinary things.

4)      Strength

Yes, weakness is your enemy. Even just the thought of weakness can eat away at your mind little by little. Weakness can whisper lies, and before you know it, you will define yourself by your thoughts rather by who you truly are.

5)      Talent

Talent for me is a complicated term. Or perhaps it is just my modesty. Talent goes hand in hand with confidence. Are we confident enough in our ability. Even if we have the talent, without the confidence it could be a dormant waste of greatness, and without discipline, persistence or faith, your talent will expire with time.

We are meant to do great things. Pray for the tools to acquire those great things. Pray for wisdom and understand that you could never be wise enough.
